Nautilus Text-based Location in Ubuntu 10.04

Since the first day I used gnome’s file manager — nautilus, I’m more at ease with text-based location than the button bar, and when I’ve found out that Ubuntu 10.04 doesn’t offer an icon to switch between them (text-base / button). I seek google for help and found this link.

So here’s how:

1. Press ALT-F2 and run gconf-editor.

2. Then on APPS -> NAUTILUS -> PREFERENCES, check the always_use_location_entry.

3. If you don’t wish to make it permanent, you may still use them both but need to press CTRL-L to show the location bar.

4. Done.
